WHAT DOES "UNTAMED" MEAN?
Back in July 2025, Jessica and I went back and forth on 40+ names for our next pop-up event and nothing felt right. Then I looked down at the book I was reading and said… “UNTAMED.”
Jessica IMMEDIATELY goes: “GIRLLL… that shit just gave me some serious goosebumps. I f*ing love it.”
From that moment, the energy shifted. The name resonated so deeply that I knew we had to brand it—because UNTAMED isn’t just a class, it’s a whole movement.
Glennon Doyle’s “Untamed” is all about breaking free from the expectations the world puts on us and dares us to live as our truest selves. She shares her own journey of leaving behind the “good girl” script, listening to her inner voice, and embracing a life that feels both wild and authentic. The book encourages people to trust themselves over societal pressures, to stop shrinking to fit others’ comfort, and to live boldly in alignment with their deepest desires and values. At its core, the message is: Stop living the life you’ve been told to want and start living the life you ACTUALLY want. Your freedom will inspire others to free themselves, too.
Untamed is not just a dance class; it's a movement. Our philosophy revolves around embracing your wild, free-spirited self through the art of dance. We teach Turn Up Dance Fitness and MixxedFit choreo. We provide a vibrant and inclusive space for fitness enthusiasts and dancers to come together and unleash their potential. Our classes are designed to not only enhance physical well-being but also to uplift the spirit. Join us in celebrating the joy of movement and the power of self-expression.

The co-owners, Meredith Dauria and Jessica Powers, were initially introduced in March 2024 when Turn Up Dance Fitness brought them together, and they’ve been inseparable since. They have been hosting all sorts of pop-ups from the Valentine’s Day “Red Light Special” to the Christmas “Turn up to Give Back” to their annual “Hot Girl Summer” Megan Thee Stallion class.
By day, Meredith is an inpatient psychiatric charge nurse that works with active-duty military, veterans, and first responders in mental health crisis. She found her passion for psych through her own life challenges. As a recovering addict, movement became a huge part of her healing. Dance fitness gave her strength, joy, confidence, and community when she needed it most - and now she gets to share that same energy with others. Meredith has been teaching Turn Up since August 2023 and has loved every minute of it. She started teaching in Fayetteville, Arkansas while in nursing school, and continued to teach when she moved back home to DFW after graduation.
Jessica’s journey with Turn Up started in 2019 when she was trying to lose weight after having her daughter. It wasn’t just the great music and choreography that hooked her—it was Tanci’s focus on growth mindset and community support that helped her find confidence and identity again. While her day job as a wellness consultant is all about designing wellbeing strategies, she found that Turn Up was the perfect way to practice what she preaches. Turn Up helped her find her own identity again, which is why she became an instructor in 2023. Now, her mission is to create a space where she leads with authenticity and joy! She helps her students to feel seen, to get out of their heads and get into their bodies and to unlock their true power: becoming Untamed.
